Police in Exeter Township were called to the clubhouse at Laurel Springs housing development on East Neversink Road just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, the department said.

The unnamed girl was rushed to an area hospital where she was still in critical condition as of Sunday, Nov. 27, police said.

Investigators determined that a suspect had fired a gun in the men's bathroom at the clubhouse, which passed through a wall before striking the child in the women's bathroom.

Police said the suspect fled the scene at the time of the shooting, but said they have identified him, and expect to serve an arrest warrant sometime on Monday, Nov. 28.
